The job of a firefighter carries high and dangerous risks, yet there are still some firefighters who remain loyal, dedicated, and enthusiastic in helping the community. They demonstrate optimal work engagement, allowing them to continue performing their duties effectively. One of the factors related to work engagement is the meaning of work, which is viewing one's job as valuable, meaningful, and contributing to one's own life as well as society. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between the meaning of work and work engagement among firefighters in DKI Jakarta. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational research design. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling of the purposive sampling type, with a research sample of 153 firefighters who meet the criteria of having a minimum work experience of 5 years and being field officers. The measurement tools used are the Work As Meaning Inventory (WAMI) scale to measure work meaning and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) to measure work engagement. Content validity was assessed using Aiken’s V coefficient, with 15 work engagement items and 9 work meaning items obtaining a value >0.70. The reliability of the work meaning scale was 0.883 and the work engagement scale was 0.813. The data analysis technique in this study uses normality tests and non-parametric correlation tests. Thus, the results obtained were (p = 0.000; r = 0.649), H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The research results indicate that there is a positive relationship between the meaning of work and work engagement among firefighters in DKI Jakarta. The value of the correlation coefficient indicates a strong relationship, meaning that the higher the work meaning felt by the officers, the higher their work engagement. Conversely, if the work meaning is lower, the work engagement tends to be lower as well.
